Tornado Outbreak [a] is an action-adventure video game developed by Loose Cannon Studios and published by Konami Digital Entertainment for the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360. The game was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June 2009. The game was later re-released on the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 6, 2011. [1]
A low-end EF2 tornado touched down and caused a tree to be downed on a home, damaging it. The tornado intensified as it crossed US-45E, severely damaging several homes, removing large sections of roofs, and destroying a barn. Significant tree damage continued to occur before the tornado weakened and lifted. [43] EF0 S of Raymond: Hinds: MS
Outbreak produced the Candlestick Park tornado, which was an extremely violent F5 tornado or tornado family that killed 58 people and traveled 202.5 mi (325.9 km) across Mississippi and Alabama. It is one of the longest such paths on record and one of only four official F5 tornadoes to hit Mississippi.
In the United States, the year started off somewhat slow with a below average number of tornadoes through the first three months. However, the El Niño pattern that was in place during that period weakened in April; the pattern shift caused the more traditional Tornado Alley zone to rapidly become extremely favorable for tornado outbreaks, and several large outbreaks occurred in late spring.
In late 2023, American meteorologist and tornado expert Thomas P. Grazulis created the Outbreak Intensity Score (OIS) as a way to rank tornado outbreaks. [1] [2] For the score, only significant tornadoes are counted: F2/EF2 tornadoes receive 2 points each, F3/EF3 tornadoes receive 5 points each, F4/EF4 tornadoes receive 10 points each, and F5/EF5 tornadoes receive 15 points each. [233] It was also the first of only two known occurrences (the other being April 14, 2012) in which a Day 2 high risk outlook was issued, and the High Risk persisted for the entire Day 1 Outlook cycle.
These are some notable tornadoes, tornado outbreaks, and tornado outbreak sequences that have occurred around the globe. Exact death and injury counts are not possible; especially for large events and events before 1955. Prior to 1950 in the United States, only significant tornadoes are listed for the number of tornadoes in outbreaks.
