I wouldn't classify robocopy as just a file copying program like tail or cp. It is more of a data center admin tool. It solves more complex problems, like keeping two folder trees synchronized, backing up changes, checkpointing and restarting its operation, etc. It's also one of the few programs that does these things correctly and robustly.
