The Kimel AP-9 is a semiautomatic pistol that was manufactured by A. A. Arms and distributed by Kimel Industries, Inc. of Indian Trail, North Carolina. A. A. Arms began manufacturing the AP-9 in 1988 until 1994. [1] The AP-9 resembles the TEC-9.
The AP9 is a self-loading pistol using the blowback mechanism with a double-action trigger, has a rotating safety/decocking lever on the left side of the slide, and is equipped with a firing pin safety mechanism, which prevents the firing pin from striking the primer of a loaded cartridge, unless the trigger is pulled.
The design is a remix of an earlier 3D printable firearm, the Shuty AP-9 pistol by Derwood. [12] Where the "Shuty" relied on several factory-made or machined gun parts (like the barrel) in order to be completed, the FGC-9 made ergonomic and mechanical changes to accommodate builders without access to commercial gun parts or machine shops.
Grand Power is the manufacturer of the K100 pistol, known by their rare rotating barrel locking system. [5] The Grand Power STRIBOG is under evaluation by the US Army. [6] The Stribog AP9 A3S variant was submitted to be evaluated for the US Army's Sub Compact Weapon (SCW) program. However, Stribog eventually lost to the Brügger & Thomet APC9K. [7]
