"Eye in the Sky" is a song by British rock band the Alan Parsons Project, released as a single from their sixth studio album, Eye in the Sky (1982), in May 1982. It entered the US Billboard charts on 3 July and hit No. 3 in October 1982, [ 5 ] No. 1 in both Canada and Spain, and No. 6 in New Zealand, becoming their most successful release.
Eye in the Sky was the last platinum record in the United States from the band. [7] Eye in the Sky contains the title track, the Alan Parsons Project's biggest hit, [8] with lead vocals by Eric Woolfson. The album itself was a major success, reaching the top 10 (and sometimes the number one slot) in numerous countries. [9]
The B-side of the single was the song "My Darling To You", which while not as popular when released has over the years become a more popular and recognizable recording for the group. The actual melodies are not at all similar, and the chorus chords do not continue to do what "Eye In the Sky" does (for example, the minor IV doesn't appear -- no G minor chord in the key of D major, for example), just those first two chord changes (repeated).
