Virtual Magic Kingdom, also known as VMK, was a massively multiplayer online game developed by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and Sulake and published by The Walt Disney Company. It was a virtual representation of the Disneyland -style theme parks , containing areas and minigames which were based on real park scenery and attractions.

The genesis for Extraterrorestrial Alien Encounter was a proposed attraction inspired by the 1979 film, Alien. The original concept was named Nostromo, a reference to the spacecraft from the film, with the attraction's alien planned to be the titular Xenomorph creature, and X-S Tech was going to be the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
The Magic Kingdom's version of the ride, known as Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, is the first Buzz Lightyear attraction, and the third Omnimover ride to operate in Tomorrowland's south show building. Unlike other versions of the attraction, Magic Kingdom's version features laser guns that are stationary.
In 2000, Tomorrowland Terrace was renamed Club Buzz, as it started hosted a show called "Calling All Space Scouts: A Buzz Lightyear Adventure." The 1998 designs were replaced with a Buzz Lightyear theme. A large sign was added above the stage with the words "Club Buzz" and a small sign with the subtitle, "Lightyear's Above the Rest."
