Sir Hubert von Herkomer CVO RA (born as Hubert Herkomer; 26 May 1849 – 31 March 1914) was a Bavarian-born British painter, pioneering film-director, and composer. Though a very successful portrait artist, especially of men, he is mainly remembered for his earlier works that took a realistic approach to the conditions of life of the poor.
Bushey Studios was a British film studio located in Melbourne Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire which operated between 1913 and 1985. [1] The studios were built by the film enthusiast Hubert von Herkomer in the grounds of his country house , Lululaund . [ 2 ]
Lululaund was the Romanesque Revival-style house and studio of the Bavarian-born British artist Hubert von Herkomer, in Melbourne Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire. It was designed about 1886 and completed by 1894.

It was created in 1913 by the noted garden designer Thomas Hayton Mawson for the artist Hubert von Herkomer. The client reportedly painted a portrait of Mawson in lieu of a fee. [1] From the 1890s Herkomer lived in a house in Bushey called Lululaund. He also painted a portrait of the architect of the house, H.H. Richardson. [2]
