XLRI – Xavier School of Management (XLRI or formerly Xavier Labour Relations Institute) is a private business school run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. It was founded in 1949 in the steel city of Jamshedpur and is the oldest business school in India.

The Association of MBAs (AMBA) has accredited MBA, DBA and MBM programmes at 277 graduate business schools in 57 countries and territories (as of 2020).Some of the accredited institutions offer programs in a further 33 countries, which expands AMBA's global presence to 85 countries.
Before founding GIM Goa, D'Souza earlier served as the Director of XLRI, Jamshedpur from 1982 to 1989. In 1987, he founded the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and was its Director till 1993. GIM began its journey with one classroom of batch size 35 at the V. M. Salgaocar College of Law.
XIMB has been part of the exclusive Super League of B-Schools (Top-10) in India – the highest tier rated by All India Management Association (AIMA). XIMB was ranked 10th in the prestigious Dare2Compete India's Top 10 Competitive B-Schools 2022. The institute was also ranked 1st in the state of Orissa Education World B-schools ranking 2020–21.
He studied metallurgical engineering at IIT Madras, followed by M.B.A. from XLRI Jamshedpur, and started his career at Tata Steel in 1966. [4] He is also an alumnus of the GMP (General Management Program) at CEDEP, the European Center for Executive Development, where Tata Steel has been a Corporate Member since 1991.
