Scott, the Edinburgh-born son of a college lecturer, is the founder and only permanent member of the Waterboys. Having begun his career in teenage Ayr punk band White Heat [8] and its Edinburgh successor Another Pretty Face, [9] he moved to London and formed another short-lived band, The Red and the Black.
He is a classically trained pianist and flautist, and plays keyboards for the Waterboys. Ian McNabb described him as Scott's "find of the century" [39] and reviewers have described him as "phenomenally talented". [40] Naiff officially left the Waterboys in February 2009 to spend more time with his family. [41]

The Waterboys Musical artist Anthony " Anto " Thistlethwaite (born 31 August 1955, Lutterworth , Leicestershire, England) is an English-born Irish multi-instrumentalist best known as a founding member (with guitarist Mike Scott ) of the folk rock group, The Waterboys [ 1 ] and later as a long-standing member of Irish rock band The Saw Doctors .
A Pagan Place is the second studio album by the Waterboys, released by Ensign Records on 28 May 1984. [1] It was the first Waterboys record with Karl Wallinger as part of the band and also includes Roddy Lorimer's first trumpet solo for the band on the track "A Pagan Place".

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, [1] Wilkinson is credited as a former official member of several successful British new wave acts, including the League of Gentlemen (1980), the Waterboys (1983–84), China Crisis (1983–89) and Squeeze (1995–96), as well as drummer for Holly Beth Vincent (1981–82).
