Clarkston is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. A northern suburb of Detroit , located about 34 mi (55 km) northwest of downtown Detroit, Clarkston is surrounded by Independence Township , but administered independently since its incorporation in 1992.

Taverns were popular places used for business as well as for eating and drinking – the London Tavern was a notable meeting place in the 18th and 19th centuries, for example. However, the word tavern is no longer in popular use in the UK as there is no distinction between a tavern and an inn. Both establishments serve wine and beer/ale.
Jennings likely enlarged the house at this time, adding a rear ell and two bays onto the previously extant structure. In 1860, Milton C. Botsford purchased the inn, renaming it the Botsford Tavern. The Tavern served as a popular meeting place for farmers, drovers, local residents and travelers. [2] The Botsford family owned the inn until the 1920s.

In 1922, the Old Mill Tavern was built by Louis Dorman (b.1895-d.1976) in Waterford Village. [13] It was located at 5828 Dixie Highway where the road crosses of the Clinton River. It was the most popular restaurant in Waterford Village for over a half century. The tavern was destroyed by fire in 1982 and was never rebuilt.
