1. The Promise of the Nations. In Psalm 2, we read that the Father promises the Son all the nations of the world as his “heritage.”. Verse 7 says, “The Lord said to me, ‘You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.’”.
3. Shows God Is in Control. A third reason is to show us that God is in complete control. He is sovereign. That may sound like a big theological word, but sovereign means that God is ultimately in control of every single detail. Bible prophecy puts that fact on display like nothing else. 4. Demonstrates God’s Love.
There are four major prophesied triumphant events that we can see on the horizon that we as born again children of God can look forward to with confidence. One is the Rapture. Then comes the Second Coming, then the Millennium, and then Heaven. In the second segment of our study on God’s promises of victory, we’ll look at the first – the ...
– God’s Word is true and reliable. – God is on His throne and in control. – God is faithful to keep all His promises. – God still loves the Jewish people and has a great purpose for them. – We are living on borrowed time because the fulfillment of these prophecies proves that Jesus is returning soon. God Made Many Great Promises to Israel. Throughout the Old Testament, God made many promises to Israel based on the covenants He made with the Patriarchs. The Lord said that the coming Messiah would one day reign on the throne of David (Isa. 9:6-7). The prophet Isaiah expanded on this theme throughout his book.
God’s promise was fulfilled exactly as it was given, in order and to the last detail. “I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.” (Isaiah 46:9-10)
This helps us to realize that prophecies are not merely guesses or predictions; rather, they reveal exactly what God will do. Prophecy is history written in advance. The abundance of fulfilled prophecies serves as powerful confirmation that God truly is God. His sovereignty is total; nothing can alter what He says will happen.
4) To the Jews – There is a fourth reason that God is going to have a Millennium. He has made many, many promises to the Jews that have never been fulfilled. One of the worst apostasies taught by the Church for the last 2,000 years is that the Church replaced Israel. God has washed His hands of the Jews and has no purpose left for the Jews.
In giving him a new name, God said that Jacob has struggled with God and men and has overcome. This is a prophecy of the future and is not indicative of the past or present. It’s a promise for a time still coming when Israel will finally emerge victorious from its long night of struggle. “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
