No pain under the arch, but an odd feeling of discomfort inside just under and to the front of the ankle. I have been to a podiatrist who said it isn't Tib Posterior, and has padded and taped my foot lifting a hollow behind my toes, and she has prescribed new orthotics. I am not convinced because I still have the same pain. Plain xray shows ...

  7. broken, but no swelling? - Foot Health Forum

    foot-health-forum.com/index.php?threads/broken-but-no...

Hi, I'm just debating whether or not I should see a doctor about a potentially broken 5th metatarsal. This seems unlikely since I have full mobility of the foot and there is no swelling or visible bruising. However, it hurts very bad in the 5th metatarsal region when I put any weight on the foot. The more I try to walk or stand the worse it gets.

Unregistered said: ↑. The SURAL nerve is what is damaged with severe breaks of the 5th Metatarsal. Make sure that you see a Neurologist podiatrist for surgery. If the nerve is simply impinged they can release it but if it has been damaged or severed like in my case they will have to amputate it.

I fell victim to Jones fracture about 15 months ago. I wore a cast, used a bone stimulator, crutches, then CAM walker, physical therapy, and was eventually rewarded by an x-ray showing that the fracture healed. Gradually, the pain subsided, with a few bouts of achiness over the course of a year or so. I went several months without even thinking ...
