I have the same thing happening. Sudden pain, red inflamed, slight fever, swollen ankle, no injury, could not stand weight on my foot and they had to get me a wheel chair. Went to urgent care, xrays showed nothing, tested me for gout, ra and lupus and all came back negative.

Hi, I'm just debating whether or not I should see a doctor about a potentially broken 5th metatarsal. This seems unlikely since I have full mobility of the foot and there is no swelling or visible bruising. However, it hurts very bad in the 5th metatarsal region when I put any weight on the foot. The more I try to walk or stand the worse it gets.

Hello all, About 5 minutes ago, a fire extinguisher fell on my fiance's foot. It immediately began to swell and bruise on the top of his foot. He also can put much weight on it, except on that specific area of the foot. He describes it as very touchy and a burning sensation from the area of impact.

Still no bruise or swelling, but it hurts to the touch or even to wear certain styles of shoes. Seems like from everyone elses comments it is just a very sensitive sopt, but not necessarily prone to bruising. I am going to wait it out a little longer and hope it goes away.
