A spiritual weapon’s AC against touch attacks is 12 (10 + size bonus for Tiny object). If an attacked creature has spell resistance, you make a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) against that spell resistance the first time the spiritual weapon strikes it. If the weapon is successfully resisted, the spell is dispelled.
Sep 21, 2005. #1. I am sure some of this is covered under the spell description, but I thought I would lump all my questions about this spell in one post... Spiritual Weapon has a range of Medium (100ft+10ft/level), and you can switch targets as a move-equiv action. So let's say you are attacking a creature with this spell, and want to switch ...
Feb 12, 2009. #4. You need to see the creature to target it -- this includes, after casting, if you want to send it to a new target. That said, once you've sicced the spiritual weapon on someone, it doesn't matter if after that point you can no longer see him. The spiritual weapon will stay on him. Spiritual Weapon, along with Detect Magic and ...
Dec 23, 2022. #4. Yes, certainly in 5e. Invisibility reads: The spell ends for a target that attacks or casts a spell. Spiritual Weapon Reads: When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon... As a bonus action on your turn, you can move the weapon up to 20 feet and repeat the attack ...
If an attacked creature has spell resistance, you make a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) against that spell resistance the first time the spiritual weapon strikes it. If the weapon is successfully resisted, the spell is dispelled. If not, the weapon has its normal full effect on that creature for the duration of the spell.
Apr 11, 2004. #10. Well, first of all, let's compare apples to apples. Faerie Fire may be a 1st-lvl spell, but it's also a DRUID spell - and many parties (if not most) don't have a druid in them. Glitterdust is 2nd-lvl and arcane. Same with See Invisibility. The rules may not say a 1st-lvl spell can be used to trump a 2nd-lvl spell, but they do ...
I'd rule the opposite. The spell is very clear: " When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon." So it's clearly the caster who is the attacker, NOT the weapon. The disadvantage that you get is not seeing the target clearly since it's on the ground and you are far away.
Melee spell attacks under water are not with disadvantage, only melee weapon attacks so the attack is normal. The weapon can appear within 60 feet of the caster and must stay within 60 feet of the caster. No, the spiritual weapon cannot be attacked. M.
Nov 26, 2007. #2. You have to direct the spiritual weapon (otherwise it returns to you and hovers) so I say it breaks invisibility. To be sure, though, there are a number of gray areas where you can find support either way (some indirect direct-damaging spells like wall of fire that gets put up before any opponents arrive).
TLDR: great weapon master is under rated for war domain clerics due to its competition for bonus actions and single attacks of clerics. Likewise, It does not pair well with spiritual weapon; but we might not need spiritual weapon as much as we think. ——————————— I am a big fan of battling clerics back to 1e days.
