  2. Best miter gauge for band saw - LumberJocks Woodworking Forum

pintodeluxe. I use the Incra 1000 miter gauge, but mostly for tablesaw work. I suppose I notch haunched tenons at the bandsaw once in a while too, but the bandsaw is a pretty rough tool for most of my finish work. I don't expect my bandsaw to make finished cuts, but I know some people do.

  3. Bandsaw Miter Gauge? Why? - Sawmill Creek

Cutting anything squirrely (logs, curved parts) with the appropriate support. Cross-cutting parts that are too large to cut on the table saw. Cross-cutting items that are too small to cut safely on the table saw. Furthermore the miter slot (as opposed to the stock miter gauge) is useful for jigs.

Delta 14" bandsaws have the conventional 3/8x3/4" groove. The stock gauge for a Unisaw or Delta/Rockwell contractor saw will work after the T-slot washer is removed. Note: some aftermarket gauge heads (e.g., Incra) are wider than the stock Delta item and, although fine for table saws, will touch the blade on a bandsaw.

I have the "little guy" saw, Rikon 10-306 10" with the tiny table and the narrow miter gauge slot. It doesn't come with a miter gauge, either. Kind of a Rikon thing, I guess. Last week I quickly cobbled together an oak bar to fit the slot and grabbed the first 1/2" plywood rectangle in the cutoff box: 9" x 13" or so.

The mitre gauge slot is extremely important on a band saw for jigs such as those mentioned by Glenn B and others. I teach using the band saw for making dovetails and bridle joints and tenons, all are accurate enough for cabinet making, using the band saw.

So you can probably find one of those a lot easier and modify in to fit the band saw. The same for the mitre gauge. Les B, Oregon. Reply Like.

If it comes with the optional miter gauge that's a big plus. It should have a stock fence. Many of the 340 band saws were supplied without a motor, just a sheave on the back. The motor supplied on the ones that did have the attached motor is 3/4hp which was more than sufficient in my experience with the saw. I like the saw a lot.

  9. Need a Universal Miter Gauge for Craftsman Table Saw...

Hello LumberJocks, I recently bought a sturdy Craftsman Table Saw, Model 137. It came with fence, stand and wheels but no miter gauge. Craftsman discontinued the original miter gauge nor has a replacement. Here are 2 pictures of the miter slot. 11/16" wide by 3/8" deep. The tabs are 1/8" thick.

I purchased an older 14" Delta band saw and am in need of a miter gauge for it. I am new to this type and size of band saw, so any recommendations of type/brand and maybe place of purchase will be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

IIRC, on my 192-D the miter gauge slot in the table was a simple shallow groove, without the undercut additional grooves you'd find on most table saw slots; if you can find a miter gauge protractor head from another tool you could attach it -- with provisions for pivoting and locking - to a piece of plain flat stock the correct width and ...
