Q: What's a pseudo-emulator? A: An app that gives the impression of it being an emulator, but actually isn't. In PDSX's case, it may look like it's emulating the BIOS of the PS1 on the DS or DSi console, but it's actually a near-faithful recreation/mimic of it, including the logo and menu screens (as you'll see in PDSX's source code).

Jul 17, 2020. #1. melonDS is a Nintendo DS emulator mainly developed by Arisotura (@StapleButter). It was first ported to the Switch by @Hydr8gon. I'm responsible for several optimisations and the current port. Depending mostly on whether a game utilises the 3D hardware of the DS a lot of games already reach fullspeed without overclocking.
Drastic. Drastic doesn't even have to be that late model. Anyway you slice it it's the best emulator. Drastic. Because melonds is unplayable cuz no 3d resolution upscale, so it's end up a bunch of pixels mess in 3d games. Try to run Kingdom Hearts in Melon DS or Phantasy Star 0. MelonDS.
Nintendo's local multiplayer protocol has really tight timing requirements. I'm not positive melonDS can connect to a real DS unless it's running in realtime or close. I want to attempt it someday, but if it ever works it will likely require some special hardware (like either some specific wifi card model or some ESP32 type module).
Steam Deck for DS emulation is overkill. It is a great versatile platform that can even emulate Wii U and Switch games at native speed and resolution, but it is bulky and expensive. If you hold down START when starting a DS game on 3DS, it will be scaled 1:1 with black borders. Same with GB and GBC, GBA, etc.
News and discussion about emulation. Drastic (performant Android DS emulator) is now free. Drastic has it's own implementation of the NDS' BIOS. I wonder if the arguments Nintendo used against Yuzu regarding their emulator decrypting Switch software that was meant to be decrypted only on Switch hardware made Exopharse panic.
Now we have NDS for the Miyoo Mini ! 😁. It's been a long time since Steward-Fu worked on the Miyoo Mini, and it's safe to say he's back with a vengeance! You can expect many slowdowns (this video is recorded with an overclock at 1900 mhz) and for now the sound is not emulated. It stills a feat to have it on the Miyoo Mini !
