The Davenport Block (c. 1915) on the left where the Mississippi Lofts and Adler Theatre stand today. The Hotel Mississippi was the last large-scale hotel to be built in the third phase of hotel construction in downtown Davenport after the Davenport Hotel in 1909 and the Hotel Blackhawk in 1915. [4]
It was designed by the Davenport architectural firm of Clausen & Kruse. Priester Construction Company of Davenport was the general contractor. The theater joined the Radio-Keith-Orpheum (RKO) circuit in 1927. It discontinued operating as a working movie theater in 1977 and was the last of the city's movie palaces in operation at the time. The hotel is connected to the north building of the RiverCenter, Davenport's convention center, and across the street from the RiverCenter south building.

RiverCenter is a convention center located in downtown Davenport, Iowa, United States. It is made up of two buildings sited on the north and south sides of East Third Street connected by a skywalk . The Adler Theatre is connected to the original section of the convention center on the north side of the complex.
