It is very unlikely to be the mark of jeweler or retailer. Patek contracted out movements making with a range of finish levels up to complete finished movements. This lion is very likely the mark of a small house that furnished a nearly complete movement. This practice was strongly encouraged by the Swiss government.

Moderator. NAWCC Member. Mar 29, 2011. #3. A lot depends on the watch. Patek made several grades. To me, grade, originality and condition trump signature. I don't erxpect a railroad watch to be pristine, it was intended for hard wear, but I do expect a Patek or other luxury watch to be clean and crisp as do most colectors.

NAWCC Member. Sep 10, 2024. #5. Patek Philippe was a final watch seller and my impression was that they were more likley to buy in watches than sell at to another house. Before I saw the pictures I thought you had a Louis Audemars who did sell stem wind watches to Patek and also to Capt.

Pulling the stem out to the set position, the movement is still solid in the case - and I can see the stem in the gap ...

Director. NAWCC Member. Nov 27, 2023. #3. Freetz is correct. Specifically the case was made by Jeannot & Shiebler of NYC. This firm made cases for a lot if not most of the imported Patek movements and many of the other high end movements imported into the USA. These J&S cases are generally very high quality and comparable in many ways to the ...
