Roof is easily accessible with a ladder and it’s a one level house. I just used a window cleaner chemical similar to windex. Took about 20mins. The solar panels were a bit dusty. I could see it from the ground level. I’m just not sure what the proper cleaning chemical is to use for solar panels. J.
I currently have a 6.5kW solar system that puts out 9600 kWh per year and want to add 6 more Sunpower 370 panels. I use around 13,000 kWh per year. Wondering how I figure out if I will not go over 100% of my usage when adding those 6 panels. I assume PG&E will not allow you to generate more...
We have a home with a flat roof located on the eastern-end of Long Island in NY. We also have a power wall 2 on order and would like to add solar panels. Solar City/Tesla does not install panels on flat-roofed homes located within northeastern states. Presumably because of the potential weight...
For small angles cosine is still near 1, e.g. if you were off 30 degrees (your panels normal is 70 degrees above the horizon (20 degree roof slope) instead of, say, an optimal 40 degrees), cos (30 deg) = 0.866, and you lose about 14% off your annual production. Cheers, Wayne. ftrv8 and BGbreeder.
May 4, 2021. #1. I'm going to go with a dark gray/charcoal standing seam metal roof. There will be zero mystery about long term performance of the roof system and PV system. PV mounting system will clamp to standing seam meaning zero roof penetrations. Panasonic HITT 96 cell panels with ultra low .26% annual degradation after 1st year.
Bottom line: Tesla has a surfeit of potential customers and is choosing SOP/cookie cutter installs at the moment. So, yes, your options are a cheap $10k roof that will get torn off in favor of a solar roof (and add to the cost), or putting on a "traditional" roof and getting solar whenever Tesla gets around to it.
Against my solar installer’s advice, I paid $95 to get mine cleaned at the 1-year anniversary of getting my panels installed. I compared the energy generated at the 2nd year to my first year, and the difference was less than 3%!!! Have not cleaned it since, and have seen any noticeable difference in the energy report.
The system is set up outside (left to right) with Inverter/Powerwall Plus, the Disconnect (with the big handle), the Gateway 2, and then the utility meter. Main electrical panel is in the basement. The installer mentioned that the utility company may want the power to the house and solar panels turned off when changing the meter to a Net meter.
In my opinion, Tesla is the best at solar and battery. Here’s the problem: I’m having a very difficult time getting an “in my opinion” a “solar design that make sense” for flat roofs from Tesla Solar. Their solution is 68% ROI and flat panels on a flat roof for 50k. I have over 3000k square feet of roof space, the design uses 50% of ...
Tesla’s solar panel subscription service has been removed from its website. Telsa launched the service in 2019, enabling customers to pay a monthly fee to use the company’s solar panels to power their homes. Tesla offered three rental systems: 3.8 kW for $65 per month. 7.6 kW for $130 per month. 11.4 kW for $195 per month.
