The Ministry of Tourism was established in 1978 by the Government of Nepal.The portfolios of Civil Aviation and Culture were added in 1982 and 2000 respectively. This structure was dissolved again in 2008, when the ministry was split into the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation on the one side and the Ministry of Culture and State Restructuring on the other side.
The Minister is assisted by the Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the junior Deputy Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The current minister is Badri Pandey [ 3 ] [ 4 ] who took office on 15 July 2024.

Nepal Tourism Board' (NTB) is the official national tourism organization of Nepal which works towards establishing Nepal as a premier holiday destination to the world. The Board provides platform for vision-drawn leadership for Nepal's tourism sector by integrating Government commitment with the dynamism of private sector. [ 3 ]
However, as of September 2017, the Government of Nepal is trying to establish an independent aircraft accident investigation unit in order to comply with the International Civil Aviation Organization's regulations. The committee, which is formed after individual accidents is only temporary and often criticized for a lack of results.
