USS YMS-328 is a decommissioned US Navy YMS-1-class (YMS-135 subclass) Yard Mine Sweeper (YMS), built in Ballard, Washington (Seattle) at Ballard Marine & Railway. She was classified as a Mark II design and her hull is constructed completely out of 3" vertical grain Douglas fir .
Mine warfare consists of: minelaying, the deployment of explosive naval mines at sea to sink enemy ships or to prevent their access to particular areas; minesweeping, the removal or detonation of naval mines; and degaussing, the process of decreasing or eliminating a remnant magnetic field in a ship's hull to prevent its detection by magnetic mines.
The design for the class had a displacement of 270 tonnes. The ships had a length of 136 feet (41 m), a beam of 24 ft 6 in (7.47 m), and a draft of 8 ft (2.4 m). The vessels were capable of 15 knots (28 km/h; 17 mph), being powered by two 440 shp (330 kW) General Motors (Cleveland) 8-268A, 2-cycle diesel engines which drove two shafts.

YMS-218 was reclassified as a Motor Minesweeper, AMS-8 and named USS Curlew, 18 February 1947. Curlew recommissioned in June 1949. Curlew was sent to the Western Pacific a year later to support Korean War operations. During most of that conflict, she was active in the combat zone, performing mine clearance and blockade missions.
USS Chauvenet (AGS-11/YMS-195) was a YMS-1-class minesweeper of the YMS-135 subclass built for the United States Navy during World War II.She was constructed as USS YMS-195 at the Hiltebrant Dry Dock Company of Kingston, New York, and was laid down on 3 April 1942, launched on 10 August 1942, and commissioned on 20 March 1943.
At the end of May 1946, YMS-311, reassigned to the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, transited the Panama Canal and proceeded to Philadelphia and New York City. Decommissioned on 31 July, she was subsequently placed in service as a Naval Reserve training ship at Tompkinsville, New York. On 1 September 1947, YMS-311 was renamed and redesignated Robin (AMS-53).
