Ottawa County (/ ˈ ɒ t ə w ə / OT-ə-wə) is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the United States 2020 Census, the population was 296,200. [1] The county seat is Grand Haven. [2] The county is named for the Ottawa Nation. It was set off in 1831 and organized in 1837.
The township protrudes to the north of the rest of Ottawa County, and is bounded on the west and north by Muskegon County and on the east by Kent County. Polkton Township lies to the southwest and Wright Township to the south. No major roads pass through the township, although Interstate 96 passes just to the south.
The township is in central Muskegon County and is bordered to the southwest by the city of Muskegon and to the west by the city of North Muskegon.According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 23.8 square miles (62 km 2), of which 23.5 square miles (61 km 2) are land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km 2), or 1.54%, are water.
