Rumba flamenca, also known as flamenco rumba or simply rumba (Spanish pronunciation:), is a palo (style) of flamenco music developed in Andalusia, Spain. It is known as one of the cantes de ida y vuelta (roundtrip songs), music which diverged in the new world, then returned to Spain in a new form.
Los Chichos became pioneers of the rumba flamenca music movement. They were signed by Philips Records and, at the end of 1973, began releasing their first singles. There was a remix by Joseph Torregrossa, who helped create the group's unique sound: rumba-rock featuring a powerful bass line, percussion and an orchestra with a horn section.

The flamenco tango is distinct from the flamenco rumba primarily through the guitar playing. In Rumba the guitar flows more freely, whereas in Tangos the accents on beats 2, 3, and 4 are marked clearly with heavy strumming. Tangos is only vaguely related to Argentine tango, and objectively they only share compás binario or double stroke rhythm.
In this style, the dance is often performed solo, and is based on signals and calls of structural improvisation rather than choreographed. In the improvisational style, castanets are not often used. "Classical flamenco" is the style most frequently performed by Spanish flamenco dance companies. It is danced largely in a proud and upright style.

Like the rumba flamenca, the Galician rumba originated from a fusion of certain Cuban and Spanish elements of style. The characteristics of that new genre are similar to those of the new song-dances that appeared in the Caribbean Basin area during the 19th century, which were the result of a combination of Iberian and African elements.
