Medina sandstone is an early Silurian (445-425 million years ago) stone deposited between the Ordovician Queenston Shale (below) and the mid Silurian Clinton Group (above). [1] The stone is made up of quartzose sand in fine grains, cemented more or less strongly by siliceous and ferruginous matter.
