Dale G. Caldwell, 15th president of Centenary University . Dale G. Caldwell (born July 6, 1960) is an education and religious leader and the 15th president of Centenary University. Assuming office in 2023, he became the university's first Black president. [1] He is also the pastor of Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield, New Jersey. [2]
Centenary University was founded as the Centenary Collegiate Institute (CCI) by what was then known as the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1867. The name was chosen to commemorate the centennial of Methodism in the United States. [9] It was built for $200,000. George H. Whitney, D.D., was president from 1869 to 1895. [10]
