Winning Streak is an Irish television game show that was produced for the National Lottery, and broadcast from 21 September 1990 to 21 March 2020 on RTÉ One.Produced in RTE's Studio 1 at their Television Centre in Dublin, the series featured contestants qualified via National Lottery scratchcards, who received the chance to win cash and other prizes.
Winning Streak Derek James Mooney (born 4 March 1967) is an Irish radio and television presenter, as well as a radio producer. Until January 2015 he presented a weekday afternoon programme called Mooney on RTÉ Radio 1 .
On 21 December 2011, RTÉ announced her as the new co-presenter of Winning Streak. She replaced Kathryn Thomas and presented alongside Marty Whelan. The Big Money Game is an Irish game show, broadcast on RTÉ One on Saturday nights during the summer months of June, July and August as a seasonal replacement for Winning Streak. The successor to Fame and Fortune (1996–2006) and The Trump Card (2007), The Big Money Game was first broadcast on Saturday, 14 June 2008.
In 2008, Thomas co-presented Winning Streak: Dream Ticket with Aidan Power. From 2009, she co-presented the show with Marty Whelan. [6] She left Winning Streak in December 2011. [7] In 2011, she became the new presenter of Operation Transformation on RTÉ One. [8]
He then returned to television again in September 2009 to co-present Winning Streak with Kathryn Thomas. He has been doing this ever since. In 1987 and since 2000, Whelan has provided the television commentary for RTÉ's coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest (joined by Phil Coulter in 2003). [2] [3]
