This list of global issues presents problems or phenomena affecting people around the world, including but not limited to widespread social issues, economic issues, and environmental issues. Organizations that maintain or have published an official list of global issues include the United Nations, and the World Economic Forum.

A UN-mediated ceasefire put a halt to the conflict in January 1949. The UN resolution called for both the countries to demilitarise the region, following which a plebiscite would be held. However, no demilitarisation plan acceptable to both the countries could be agreed. The countries fought two further wars in 1965 and 1971.
The list has been cited by journalists and academics in making broad comparative points about countries or regions. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] The report uses 12 factors to determine the rating for each nation, including security threats, economic implosion, human rights violations and refugee flows.
