Verdala Palace was designed by Girolamo Cassar, a Maltese architect mostly known for the design of many buildings in the capital Valletta. [6] The palace is an example of Renaissance architecture , and its design is possibly influenced by Villa Farnese in Caprarola .
The Verdala Palace is perched on a hilltop adjoining and overlooking Buskett Gardens. It was built by Grand Master Hughes de Verdalle in 1588 as a summer residence and hunting lodge.
