The Taff Trail (Welsh: Taith Taf) is a walking and cycle path that runs for 55 miles (89 km) [1] between Cardiff Bay and Brecon in Wales. It is so named because it follows the course of the River Taff .
Llwyn-onn Reservoir is the largest and southernmost of the three reservoirs in the Taf Fawr valley in South Wales. Cardiff Corporation Waterworks obtained an act of Parliament in 1884 to authorise construction of the reservoirs, to increase the water supply for Cardiff, but construction of Llwyn-onn Reservoir did not start until 1911 and was completed in the 1920s.

The road crosses the top of the reservoir's dam before climbing away from the trees and onto exposed moor land to the west of the A470. Thereafter the A4059 climbs to a height of 450 metres (1,480 ft), following the River Taff 100 m below. At this point along the road, the A470 can be clearly seen in the valley below.
