Sheffield is a village in Lorain County, Ohio, United States, along the Black River. The population was 4,135 at the 2020 census . It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area .
The village was incorporated as Lorain in 1874 and became a city in 1896. [10] The first mayor was Conrad Reid, who took office on April 6, 1874. The municipal boundaries incorporated most of the former Black River Township judicial boundaries, and portions of the Sheffield Township, Amherst Township, and Brownhelm Township judicial borders.
Lorain County Community College was the first community college in Ohio to have a permanent campus, located at 1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio. [3] [4] The college was founded on July 15, 1963.
