Bloodletting, whether by a physician or by leeches , was based on an ancient system of medicine in which blood and other bodily fluids were regarded as " humours " that had to remain in proper balance to maintain health.
He wrote a number of books including Bloodletting in Appalachia, The Story of the Constitution, The Criminal Trial in the Virginias, and The Burning Springs and Other Tales of the Little Kanawha. [1] Lee died at the age of 105 at the Hobe Sound Geriatric Village nursing home in Stuart, Florida. [2]
