Nadi International Airport, located 9 kilometres from Nadi, is the largest airport in Fiji. Thus, Nadi is the principal port of entry for air travelers to Fiji, even though it is on the opposite (western) side of the island of Viti Levu from the nation's capital and largest city, Suva .
On February 2, RSMC Nadi reported that Tropical Disturbance 10F had developed about 680 km (425 mi) to the northeast of Suva, Fiji. [54] [55] During that day the system moved towards the southeast and passed over the Fijian island of Viti Levu.
According to TCWC Nadi, a tropical depression existed between May 28 and May 30, to the far west of Fiji, with the associated rainband of the storm located over Fiji between May 27 and May 31. The associated rainband caused some flooding in low-lying areas on the island of Viti Levu.
The 2012–13 South Pacific cyclone season was a below average tropical cyclone season, with five tropical cyclones occurring within the basin between 160°E and 120°W. The season officially ran from November 1, 2012, to April 30, 2013, however the last tropical disturbance was last noted on May 1, as it moved into the subtropics.
