David G. Tippett (born August 25, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey coach and player. Tippett played in the NHL from 1983 to 1994 as a winger for the Hartford Whalers , Pittsburgh Penguins , Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals .
