Giovanni Sforza d'Aragona (5 July 1466 – 27 July 1510) was an Italian condottiero, lord of Pesaro and Gradara from 1483 until his death. He is best known as the first husband of Lucrezia Borgia. Their marriage was annulled on claims of his impotence in March 1497.
Lucrezia Borgia was born on 18 April 1480 at Subiaco, near Rome. [2] Her mother was Vannozza dei Cattanei, one of the mistresses of Lucrezia's father, Cardinal Rodrigo de Borgia (later Pope Alexander VI). [3] During her early life, Lucrezia Borgia's education was entrusted to Adriana Orsini de Milan, a close confidant of her father.

After his death, Lucrezia was allowed to go to Bisceglie in order to liquidate his assets and dispose of his court. She attended a memorial service and then returned to the Convent of Saint Bernardino where she grieved for a month. Only in 1518, a year before Lucrezia's death, did she receive Rodrigo's inheritance.
