Quercus arkansana, the Arkansas oak, is a species of oak tree. It is native to the southeastern United States (eastern Texas, southern Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle). [3] It is threatened by use of its habitat for pine plantations, clearing of land, and diebacks that may be caused by drought.
The current world record Nuttall's Oak tree is located at the White River National Wildlife Refuge, Desha County, Arkansas. According to the National Forests Champion Trees Official Register, it boasts a trunk circumference of 274 inches, a height of 100 feet, and a crown spread of 102 feet.
The largest recorded individual tree of Q. fusiformis in the state of Texas is found in Bosque County [7] [8] (not to be confused with the "Election Oak" or Bosque County Oak). It has a circumference of 870 centimetres (342 in), which is actually larger than the largest recorded Q. virginiana in the state, listed at 860 cm (338 in).
