In 1916, the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul launched a Catholic hospital called St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside. They provide full-service tertiary care at a capacity of 528 beds. This Catholic hospital is located in Jacksonville, Florida. It is a member of Ascension and is owned by St. Vincent's HealthCare.
The current facility was opened in December 1984, contained 289 beds, and offered general acute care services and specialized medical/surgical procedures. It is located in the fast-growing southeast quadrant of Jacksonville, along J. Turner Butler Boulevard, an expressway which serves as a major thoroughfare to and from the Jacksonville Beaches.

St. Vincent's Hospital was begun in 1916 when the Daughters of Charity turned the DeSoto Sanitorium into the third hospital in Jacksonville. The institution grew from 42 beds into the St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside, with 528 beds. As the largest facility in the group, they offer the most diverse health care services in the system.
