The Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern is a grand hotel of the Belle Époque, located on the north shore of the lake on "National Quai" ("Nationalquai") in Lucerne, Switzerland. It was built as the Palace Hotel Luzern between 1904 and 1906, and is officially designated as a cultural asset of national importance (Conservation Grade B). [1]
Although 1876 was the ‘official’ opening year of the Oriental Hotel, the origin of the ‘Oriental’ side of the Mandarin Oriental can be traced back as early as 1863, when two Americans, Captain Atkins Dyer, and William West, opened the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Siam (now Thailand): however, the original building burnt down only two years later, on 11 June 1865.

Mandarin Oriental Savoy (formerly known as Baur en Ville and Savoy Baur en Ville) is the oldest Grand Hotel in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 1838 by Johannes Baur it is located on Poststrasse on the Eastern side of Paradeplatz . [ 1 ]
