This is a list of countries by IPv4 address allocation. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) distributes large blocks of addresses to regional Internet registries (RIRs), which then assign them to national Internet registries and local Internet registries within their respective service regions. [ 1 ]
The original list of IPv4 address blocks was published in September 1981. [3] In previous versions of the document, [18] [19] network numbers were 8-bit numbers rather than the 32-bit numbers used in IPv4. At that time, three networks were added that were not listed earlier: 42.rrr.rrr.rrr, 43.rrr.rrr.rrr, and 44.rrr.rrr.rrr.
A local Internet registry (LIR) is an organization that has been allocated a block of IP addresses by a RIR, and that assigns most parts of this block to its own customers. [11] Most LIRs are Internet service providers, enterprises, or academic institutions. Membership in a regional Internet registry is required to become a LIR.

APNIC offices. APNIC (the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) is the regional Internet address registry for the Asia–Pacific region. [3] It is one of the world's five RIRs and is part of the Number Resource Organization ().
An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label such as 192.0.2.1 that is assigned to a device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. [1] [2] IP addresses serve two main functions: network interface identification, and location addressing.
At the top level, the IP address pool is managed by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). The total IPv4 address pool contains 4 294 967 296 (2 32 ) addresses, while the size of the IPv6 address pool is 2 128 ( 340 282 366 920 938 463 463 374 607 431 768 211 456 ) addresses.
The list includes figures for both fixed wired broadband subscriptions and mobile cellular subscriptions: [6] Fixed-broadband access refers to high-speed fixed (wired) access to the public Internet at downstream speeds equal to, or greater than, 256 kbit/s.
