Archbald is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania and is named for James Archbald, [5] the first mayor of Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Before being renamed in Archbald's honor, the name of the settlement was White Oak Run.
Lackawanna County is the second largest county in the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre–Hazleton, PA Metropolitan statistical area. It lies northwest of the Pocono Mountains approximately 40 miles (64 km) from the New Jersey border in Montague Township , and approximately 25 miles (40 km) from New York state in Kirkwood .
As of the census [4] of 2010, there were 3,731 people, 1,460 households, and 1,101 families residing in the township. The population density was 111.4 people per square mile.
