King Cobra was a Swiss-American glam metal band from Memphis, Tennessee, active in the early 1980s. Having formed in 1982, the band released an album the following year that led to tours supporting acts like Quiet Riot and Nazareth .

Cobra Starship was formed in 2005 after Midtown bassist Gabe Saporta took a trip to the deserts of Arizona. During this time, Saporta went on a "vision quest", spending time with Native American tribes and smoking peyote. "#1Nite (One Night)" was written by members of Cobra Starship along with Ryan Tedder and Brent Kutzle, who also produced the track. [5] The song was originally titled as "One Night", however Gabe Saporta made a last minute decision to add a hashtag after it was suggested by the group's manager Alex Sarti who thought "could be an automatic trending topic."
