Kathmandu University became the first university to host the university-level TEDx event in Nepal. The first iteration of this event/conference was conducted on December 23, 2019, under the tagline ‘Connecting Dots,’ in the central campus premises at Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok.

In the year 1991, he along with Sitaram Adhikary, Bhadra Man Tuladhar, and others successfully managed to charter Kathmandu University from Parliament. A month later, he was appointed as the first-ever vice chancellor of the University. In 2014 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. [4]
The opening marked the initiation of science and technology activities in the country, [6] with Tribhuvan University, the first of its kind in the country, soon coming into being in 1959.
