BISE Peshawar was established in 1961 by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In 2004, UET Peshawar moved from an annual system of examination to the semester system. The system was brought by the vice chancellor, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani. There are two semesters in an academic year – Fall and Spring. Each semester consists of 18 weeks of teaching and two exams- mid term and final term.
