The Santa Clara County Library District is a public library system for Santa Clara County headquartered in Campbell, California.The library serves the communities and cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Saratoga, and all unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County. Morgan Hill is approximately 24 mi (39 km) south of downtown San Jose, 13 mi (21 km) north of Gilroy, and 15 mi (24 km) inland from the Pacific coast.Lying in a roughly 4-mile-wide (6 km) southern extension of the Santa Clara Valley, it is bounded by the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west and the Diablo Range to the east.
The Morgan Library & Museum (originally known as the Pierpont Morgan Library; colloquially the Morgan) is a museum and research library at 225 Madison Avenue in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, New York, U.S. Completed in 1906 as the private library of the banker J. P. Morgan, the institution has more than 350,000 objects.
[1] Belle da Costa Greene (November 26, 1879 – May 10, 1950) was an American librarian who managed and developed the personal library of J. P. Morgan. After Morgan died in 1913, Greene continued as librarian for his son, Jack Morgan, and in 1924 was named the first director of the Pierpont Morgan Library.
The name was later changed to Live Oak High School after the Morgan Hill Unified School District was established, [verification needed] which combined the aforementioned rural elementary school districts. In 1940, a new campus was built on the north side of town, along Monterey Street, between West Central Avenue and Keystone Avenue.
The Hiram Morgan Hill house was built in 1886 for Morgan Hill and his wife, Diana. [2] The site also includes the Morgan Hill Museum is in a farmhouse built in 1911 by John Acton. [3] Hill was from Missouri; his wife Diana was an heiress. The house was built on land inherited by Diana from her father, Daniel Murphy. [2]
