Smosh spin-off channels include Smosh Games, Smosh Pit, El Smosh, and the now defunct Shut Up! Cartoons. Smosh Games was launched as a spin-off of Smosh and relaunch of ClevverGames in September 2012. Hecox and Padilla teamed up with various online gamers to play games, provide reviews and updates, and share commentary.
Defy Media shut down in 2018, leaving Hecox to seek new investors to keep the channel going. [23] [24] In February 2019, Smosh was bought in by Rhett & Link, [25] who remained the owners until June 20, 2023, when Hecox, alongside Padilla (who returned), announced that they purchased and acquired Smosh to be independent once again. One of Smosh's earliest videos, "Pokémon Theme Music Video," was released on November 28, 2005. It followed the same style as their other earlier videos, with the duo lip-synching the original English theme song for the Pokémon anime. The video became much more popular than any of their other videos.

In 2010, Smosh launched a new feature on their website called the "Smosh Pit", a blog that consisted of various pieces of pop-culture trivia, and written comedy. As part of this new feature, they also launched a new series on their second YouTube channel called "Smosh Pit Weekly" that summarized various articles posted on the website.
