The name "Trading Post" was from their early days as THE place to trade and buy. Being from NJ, the closest I could think of was the no longer open Ray's Sporting and the KTP is many times larger. They might not be the cheapest but they are surely on the level as far as sales are concerned.

The Kittery Trading Post does try to discourage open carry now. The reason for it has been previously stated. People from the south freeking out. They don't make a big deal about it the just ask you to conceal the firearm while in the store. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but employees only carry concealed also.
