The George Mason Patriots softball team represents George Mason University in the NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10). From 2002 until 2013, the team was a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). [3] The Patriots are currently led by head coach Justin Walker.

George Mason reached its current level of 20 varsity sports with the addition of women's lacrosse (1993–1994), women's rowing (1997–1998) and men's and women's swimming & diving (1999–2000). On March 25, 2013, George Mason University left the CAA to join the Atlantic 10 Conference. [9] Shortly after, the CAA ceased sponsorship of wrestling due to the lack of teams.
