Pasadena Republican Club (PRC) is the oldest, continuously active Republican political club in America, founded on March 29, 1884, 140 years ago.Every two years for the last 140 years the Pasadena Republican Club has operated the Greater Pasadena Area Republican Headquarters in Pasadena, California with the help of volunteers.
The Pasadena Council (also known as the Pasadena District Council) of the Boy Scouts of America was organized March 3, 1919, with jurisdiction over Pasadena, Altadena and Lamanda Park. A charter was granted by the BSA National Headquarters dated April 1, 1919 to the Pasadena District Council. Tallman Trask was hired to be the first Scout Executive.
During the early twentieth century, when most of the homes in the district were constructed, Pasadena was one of three prominent centers of American Craftsman design, along with Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area. The district includes a variety of Craftsman designs only matched by one other area in California, a hilly neighborhood in Berkeley.
In 1932, the historical society was given a room at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. In 1958, the collection moved to the Pasadena Public Library where it was maintained by volunteers. In 1970, thanks to a gift from the Paloheimo family, the museum moved to its present location on the grounds on the historic two-acre Fenyes Estate. [2]
