Nov 3, 2024. #2. You can charge it with just about any charger, although it will charge slower with lower wattage chargers. If you are talking about fast charging your 16" MPB, then you need the Apple 140W charger with the Magsafe3 cable. The M3 (and I'm guessing M4 16" MBP) can also fast charge with the 140W charger and the Apple 240W USB-C cable.
Also thanks Apple for giving us this update OTA. Registered today in order to inform or confirm that my magsafe charger updated its firmware automatically today from 171.0.0.0 to 247.0.0.0. My update was initiated after placing my iphone 12 on magsafe, with wifi on, for 12 hours on Saturday night .
DFW, TX. Oct 20, 2020. #14. Magsafe is Apple buzzword for the magnet. Wireless Charging is wireless charging. Magsafe more effortlessly aligns the charging coils over each other. That is about it. It is still a brilliant thing for what it is. Neither one mingles with data transfer though.
