I am using Windows 10 with Dell that I purchased desktop that came with Windows 10. I back up my files to external hard drive without a problem but I want to back up my files to internal hard drive as well. Both. I just want to be safe. Hi, after my external drive failed I couldn't use or change file history - win10 insisted I reconnect the (broken) drive. Your .bat rest file has partly fixed that - thanks. But win10 still wont recognise my external drive - I click 'add a drive', it returns 'no usable drives found' - but there is a perfectly OK external drive (E:)
Those system restore points will work as long as there isn't a new major Windows 10 Update to prevent the restoration. That won't be a problem as I have Windows 10 Automatic Update disabled using Windows 10 Blocker 1.3. Windows Update Blocker v1.3
I'm trying to set up a File History backup from a Windows 10 desktop to an external 4TB hard drive. I have a large internal 1TB drive D: that I've redirected all my user folders to (documents, desktop, pictures, music, etc.) so for convenience I want to just backup drive D, which I added to the file history list of folders to include in the backup.
To recover you PC you need an image on an external drive, and a bootable rescue CD or USB. It doesn't matter if you make the WinPE or WinRE version, both will do the job. It's easier (and the default) to make WinRE recovery media. It copies the boot files it needs from your installed Windows.
