The Marwari or Malani [4] is a rare breed of horse from the Marwar (or Jodhpur) region of Rajasthan, in north-west India.It is closely related to the Kathiawari breed of the Kathiawar peninsula of Gujarat, [5] with which it shares an unusual inward-curving shape of the ears.
The Marwari horse is a rare breed from the Marwar region of India. Known for its inward-turning ear tips, it comes in all equine colours , although pinto patterns tend to be the most popular. It is known for its hardiness, and is quite similar to the Kathiawari , another Indian breed from the Kathiawar region southwest of Marwar.
The earliest influence on Marwar style can be traced to the murals of Ajanta, of which, the door of Mandor is the finest example. According to Tarachand, this style is related to Sringdhar which traces the origin of Marwar style to the confluence of local art styles and Ajanta frescoes. [1]
