Hawkins County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee.As of the 2020 census, the population was 56,721. [3] Its county seat is Rogersville. [4] Hawkins County is part of the Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area, commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region.

Hawkins County Courthouse, ca. 1835–36, is situated at the center of Rogersville.Still in use, it is the second oldest courthouse in Tennessee. [9]In 1775, the grandparents of Davy Crockett, a future member of the United States Congress from Tennessee and hero of the Alamo, settled in the Watauga colony in the area in what is today Rogersville near the spring that today bears their name.
