"New Song" is the debut single by Welsh musician Howard Jones, released in August 1983. It reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart , [ 5 ] spending 20 weeks in the top 75 and becoming the 28th best-selling single of 1983 in the UK. [ 6 ]
Contemporary reviews of Human's Lib were generally negative, with many criticising the songs' music and lyrics as being lightweight. In Melody Maker, Colin Irwin called Jones "the aural equivalent of painting by numbers" and that although the sentiments expressed in the lyrics were worthy ones, "his sermons are embarrassingly glib".
Jones continued to tour and write new music, collaborating with Robbie Bronnimann to co-write and co-produce music for Sugababes, and Jones' own 2005 album Revolution of the Heart.
